Computers used in businesses need to be set up and maintain properly to ensure that they can efficiently support their users. Hardware and software need to be installed properly and upgraded appropriately. More so, computers should be properly configured to be able to communicate with other computers over networks including wireless networks, intranet and the internet. Business system analysts or professionals in the field of business system analysis are the one responsible for determining what hardware, software and settings are needed for each computer in a business. They are also responsible for determining the steps needed to maintain such computers.
Generally, business system analysts are professionals who have knowledge in both IT and business. They can either be graduates of Information Technology courses who have taken business analysis training or business professionals who have taken short courses related to Information Technology. The responsibilities of a business system analyst include the planning, implementation and management of multi-computer systems within a business organization. He or she is also responsible for assessing and documenting the needs of individual departments within the organization. The activities of a business system analyst depend on the needs of the business they are trying to analyze. It is their job to determine the underlying problems within each department and suggest possible solutions so that the organization will be able to reach its goals without much difficulty while sticking to the company’s policies and work ethics.
Although many activities related to business systems analysis involves computers and systems, it is important to take note that determining the right system and the correct configuration of computers that best suit a particular organization so that it can efficiently perform the required tasks is the true challenge in the profession.
